Guess the tune!
arrow_circle_up
Morse?
[TV series, old and new]
Tump tumpa taaaa, ti-ti-tump-tee TUM tumpy tum tum TAAAAA,
Tump tumpa taaaa, ti-ti-tump-tee TUM tumpy tum tee TEEEEE,
Timp timpy tee, tee tee tee timpetty teeeee....
Herr Bratsche has it!
Chalky] Coronation Street!
HB] Go on - gi'us a clue
Raak] Star Trek? No...
This one should be fairly easy: Radio.
Tum ti-tum ti-tum ti-tum
Tum ti-tum ti tahh, dahh
Tum ti-tum ti-tum ti-tum
Tum ti-tiddley tummmm
Tum ti-tiddley Tum ti-tiddley Tum ti-tiddley Tumm
Tum ti-tum ti-tum ti-tiddley
Tun ti-tiddley tum

Bom bo-bo-bo-bo bom-bo-bom-bo
Bom bo-bo-bo-bo bom bo-bom-bo
Bom bo-bom bo-bom bo-bom
Bom bo-bom bo-bom bo-bo-bo-bo....
fade....

Do we have to guess one before moving on or providing our own?

[Kim] The Archers. [Btd] Right genre, wrong show.
I should say yes, otherwise its going to get very confusing. So far we have:
HB - Dit dit dit daa daa daa daa daa daa
Raak - Tump tumpa taaaa, ti-ti-tump-tee TUM tumpy tum tum TAAAAA, (Dr Who?)
on the go. Lets have some guesses or clues...
I should say yes, otherwise its going to get very confusing - addressed to Kims question...
[HB] Casualty?
[HB] Surely not the "Blessed" Z-Cars?
All wrong so far. You want a clue? OK - I quoted the ENTIRE theme.
Although "Breadmaster" had, perhaps, a subliminal idea ...
A clue to mine? Well, it's not Dr Who, and I didn't quote the whole thing, it sort of goes round in an endless loop, but here's some more starting from where the first part ended:

TI ti-ti TEEE, ti ti tee tee TEE TEE [rest] ti TEE TEE [rest] ti TEEE brrrrr
then repeat from start until the credits finish.

[HB] Juliet Bravo if I'm not mistaken.
Although, listening to it again I'm less sure...
It depends on how much of the counterpoint you're putting in...
Can I slip one in of my own?

Ya-da-di-dahh ya-da-di-dahh
Ya-da-di da-da-dahh
Ya-da-di-dahh ya-da-di-dahh
Ya-di-da-di-dahh
Wha-wa-waaar Wha-wa-waar
Wha-weee wa-warr
Wha-wah wha-wah
Wha-weee waa - wuf wuf
Ya-da-di-dahh ya-da-di-dahh
Ya-di-da-di-dahh
Body babom - Whee-whee

(Whole thing).

Rab] I'd go for the theme to Desert Island Disks...
*mock indignation* I have NEVER seen anything so ridiculous in my life. I have also NEVER BEFORE found myself in front of my computer sceen making weird Doppler effect noises ('ya-di-da-wheeee') with such a grin on my face. And I still have no idea what any of them are.
[rab] Rhubarb and Custard?
[Lib] *ting* Well done.
[rab] Nope, not JB. Also agree with Lib about Roobarb theme.
(Damn Crossposted)
Raak] Thunderbirds! Good 'un!
C20 Classical English...
Pom, tom, tommytommytommytommy,
Pom, tom, tommytommytommytommy,
Pom, tom, tommytommytommytommypomplink
Tommytommytommytommy Der-dededer dededer-der-der-der
Der-dededer dededer-der-der-der
and then it gets too complicated.
[pen] This is I think my favourite game ever, and precisely what the web was invented for...
[BtD] It's the Dambusters! I like this game!
Trying one of my own.....Television.
Tum tee-tum tee-tum-tee-tum-tee-tum.
Tee-tum tee-tum tee-tum-tee-tum-tee-tum.
Tee-tum tee-tum tee-tum tee-tum-tee-tum.
Tee-tum tee-tum tee-tum-tee-tum-um-tee.

(ending might be open to some artistic arugement!)

Lib] No its not! Think Proms!
[BtD] Rule Britannia? I can hear the introduction, I just can't remember how the verse starts...
BtD] Land of Hope and Glory, isn't it?
pen, Tuj] Not Rule Britannia - yes it is the bit that leads into Land of Hope and Glory, so its...
Lib] Seems familiar...
HB] Another clue please!!
Desperate requests With all the multiple guessing and such I've no idea what's been going on - could some lovely person give me a round-up of the results so far? :)
And then of course there's...
Deee doo-doo-doop, deee doo-doo-doop,
doodoodoodoodoododoo doo doo dooo,
Deee doo-doo-doop, deee doo-doo-doop,
deedoodoodoo, deedoodoodoo, deee dooo doooooo00OOOOO,...
Dooooo doooo doooo (dooDOOdoo)
Dooooo dooooo dooooo (dooDOOdoo)
DOOOOOO DOOOOOO DOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Patently not Beethoven's First.
ZK] OK!
  1. Bob the dog - ISIHAC Theme
  2. Chalky Coronation Street
  3. HB - Not guessed yet (A TV theme subliminally connected with Morse)
  4. Raak - Thunderbirds
  5. Kim - The Archers' Theme
  6. Rab - Roobard and Custard (Although try my guess of Desert Island Disks - it mostly fits!)
  7. Bob the dog - Pomp and Curcumstance, Edward Elgar
  8. Lib - ?TV theme
  9. ZK - I know this one! Damn I can't pipoint the tune it is so annoying!:o)

Can I make a call for order please, lets concentrate on HB's, Libs and ZKs before starting a new one and then play a la charades - if you guess correctly then you get to choose a new tune.
[HB] It's not Casualty, is it? It doesn't exacty fit the tune... or your clues... but it's worth a try! :)
ZK] Isn't that the Italian national anthem or something like that? If that's way wide of the mark, feel free to laugh!
[ZK] No, not Casualty. Rab was wondering about the counterpoint - well, there really wasn't any. That might help. Remember that I've already said it's the ENTIRE theme.
[Tuj] *laughing*
[Tuj] In fairness, it may be - I don't think I've ever heard it. But I doubt it. It falls into the genre of "cartoon," anyway.
ZK, is yours the theme to Jonathan Creek? (and I wish I could remember what its real name is)...
Clue for mine, saturday night telly too!
[Lib] I believe you're thinking of Saint-Saens' Dans Macabre (doodoo, doodoo, doodoo, doodoo....) and see my second answer to Tuj, which should have narrowed it down a bit for you.
What a great game this is! Once we've calmed down and are focusing on just one at a time. Shame Roobarb and Custard has already gone, because that it the greatest theme tune of all time.
ZK] Tchaikovsky - Warsaw Concerto?
[Btd] The "Warsaw Concerto" was written by Richard Addinsell for the film "Dangerous Moonlight" and, whatever its merits, has nothing to do with Tchaikovsky or even Rachmaninov. I think you mean the B flat minor concerto, but I don't think it is.
I had no idea that you'd all find my little snippet so hard. Shall I reveal all, or take three more guesses?
HB] Gi'us a clue...
OK - 1970's UK sit-com.
[HB] Rising Damp? It fits! (well, it does when I sing it)
Quote:
ZK - [Tuj] In fairness, it may be - I don't think I've ever heard it. But I doubt it. It falls into the genre of "cartoon," anyway.
Unquote
As to Herr Bratsche's offering, I have not a clue.
[HB] Unfortunately, I'm not particularly up on the tunes for these classic sitcoms. I don't think I could actually hum you one, which is disgraceful.
[pen] No. OK, another clue - BBC. Two more guesses before I have to give it you.
[ZK] The Perry Mason theme?
[HB] The Good Life?
[ZK] Tom & Jerry?
[Lib] Blind Date?

[Chalky] Right era, wrong show. That would have been "Dit dee dee dididi dee". One more guess before I claim victory!
[HB] Theme from Steptoe & Son?
[HB] Fawlty Towers?
No to all, and I say once more - it is a *cartoon* :)
[HB] The Muppet show almost fits, but it's not the entire theme... when you say "entire" you mean it's not repeated?
Oh, and the muppets ain't a sitcom....
[HB] goddit. 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em.'
Assuming I'm right, here's another.
Dabba-dum dum dum
Dabba dabba dabba dum
Dabba dum dum dum
Dabba dum ba-dum ba-dum
Dabba dum ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum
Babba dum ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum
Dum dum
[pen] No yabbas, so it can't be the Flintstones.
[ZK]Dangermouse?
[pen] Easy - Blue Peter! (although you missed off the Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr at the start...)
[chalky] YAY! Blind date it is!
[Watty] Aye Aye Cap'n!
[pen] er, actually - now I look at it, it's not Blue Peter (Barnacle Bill), is it?
Dabba dum-dum-dumma
Dumma-dum-dum-dum
Dumma-dummadumma- dumma-dumma dumma-dummma-dum....
It's the good old Sailor's Hornpipe. Hmm. More difficult than it looks, this game.
Meanwhile, another classic sitcom:

Yup,that's whole opening theme. Promise.
