And so it begins...
-
Right, you should be able to work out how it works... enter a colour into the 'Team' box, click Preview to see if it's recognised, Submit to commit yourself to this folly. Oh, and we may as well play a game whilst we're at it: Teal.
-
Not sure how to play - so I'll open with Puce.
-
orange
-
gosh. OK. I'll play aubergine
-
Snot
-
fuligin [rab] What colours do you recognise? In the source, the colours are all in hex -- any reason not to simply copy the name the player gave?Raak
-
Oops, didn't mean to leave that test in at the end.
-
5.55am and I'm bored. Only four hours till I finish work. Ummm. Flaggon.
-
Does my bum look big in this? Umber
-
I really don't think you're trying hard enough: aquamarine [Raak] I expect you'll be able to track down the list of colours I've purloined without too much difficulty :) I'd like to leave it as a challenge at least until the game ends. As to why I don't just copy the colours - I'm not sure which browsers understand which colour names, so thought it was easiest to generate the hex that they can all speak. (Plus, none of them know Hampster).
-
Thought I'd give this a whirl! Apple white.
-
Just felt like a change...
-
Now I'm starting to look like a printer's registration mark...
-
what the hell..
-
*hmm... it didn't know that last one*
-
[pen] You can use 'Preview' if you want to hide your embarrassment...
-
Ah, the old ones are the best. I notice "off-white" gives black; a nice touch. I take it Hampster works?
-
[rab] I think I've found it.
-
Raak] Medium violetred? Blimey.
-
[rab] I'm not embarrassed. It's just that the colour didn't suit me.
-
not heard it called that before [Raak] It would appear so...
-
This is very exciting!
-
Well, apart from that black, of course...
-
I'm not helping, am I?
-
*beams*
-
*glooms*
-
[Breadmaster] I'm playing safe...
-
Ooh! It's like that moment I waited so long for on Pants MC has finally arrived!
-
I suppose I do have a slightly unfair advantage... Anyhow, back to the game: burnt sienna.
-
White Well it's not a very complete colour database
-
A simple start but not too exotic ochre
-
(white) - Dulux eggshell blue.
-
Bifurcating with Feldspar/HotPink
-
No further move. I'm just showing off.
-
Me too
-
So, you've all found a list then? :) For those who haven't,
here's one. There are still Things To Do, like internationalise the spelling of grey, and maybe make the algorithm make a reasonable guess if you don't get the name exactly right. (Note that capitalisation and spacing is irrelevant, though).
-
This is all very exciting. wood green *ducks boots and shoes*/chocolate
-
Excellent. All I can say, then, is to reunify with muddy colour of old mixed-up plasticene, since that contains everything.
-
Strange how dark grey is between light grey and grey.
-
Darkkhaki, without the space... I remember I used to have my name this colour over at YAMCS... Wow, Yet Another Mornington Crescent Server, that takes me back...
-
Mediocrity. China Blue
-
Think this is all getting a bit complex for me, so going back to primary school. Red.
-
nuclear yellow
-
Playing it safe, Magnolia
-
Playing it artfully - Dodger Blue
-
Who the f**k is Alice Blue?
-
Getting started with Burnt Umber
-
Straight from the Dulux catalogue, Icelandic Blue.
-
Working for a painting contractor, this should be my area of expertise; Vanilla
-
Yellow.
-
-
Oops... instinctively whacked the return key... I'll play Blue, wondering if we could have the tag team game too?
-
zinc afternoon
-
Moving towards green chartreuse. [Tuj] Well, this game was intended as a kind of warm-up to test out the team colours I suggest we head to Peach Puff as quick as we can and then start a proper team game.
-
Will this game now go below the line?
-
Obviously not!
-
Oh all right, let's try this ...Peach Puff
-
*shouts, screams, generally goes wild for Chalky*
-
eek
-
Well done!
-
That's the best winner's statement I've seen for some time.
-
I have the impending gleam of an idea: user-defined colour names, automatically added to the table of recognised colours.
-
testing..
-
testing..
-
[Raak] I wasn't sure at first, but having thought about it, this wouldn't be too difficult. As you may have spotted, I'm a fan of a simple UI so I need to think a bit about how to do it unobtrusively. Oh, and I need to move house, but I'll get a Round Tuit.
-
Jolly good show! Bouquets of roses all round!
This is the end of the line. There is no more.
